Official statistics institutions a few years ago started to open up to external data sources such as administrative data. The advent of Big Data is introducing important innovations: the availability of additional external data sources, dimensions previously unknown and questionable consistency.
The completed thesis is examined by at least two external examiners. A pass by all examiners is needed to obtain a PhD in Statistics and Operations Research. The student will be required to demonstrate ability to conduct independent research and to make a significant and original contribution to the body of knowledge in Statistics.
